Local authorities in Aberystwyth urged to reinstate CCTV system following mass brawl

A local council has been urged to reinstate the public CCTV system in the area following a mass brawl that saw a single person being arrested, a recent news report could reveal.

Appeals have been made to restart CCTV cameras in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, which were shut down in April 2014 as a result of council cutbacks.

Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon said it was “impossible” to say whether CCTV would have made any difference, while Ceredigion council said it had “no plans” to reinstate the CCTV.
