Cornish pub forced to install CCTV system following string of complaints

The owner of a pub in Camelford has been ordered to install CCTV both inside and outside the premises following a review of his license by the local Police force.

The decision was based on complaints filed by the public and reports of bad behaviour submitted by police officers. The police said the current operation was undermining the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children, a news report in the local media can reveal.

The police had presented the sub-committee, chaired by councillor Andy Penny, with a dossier of incidents including people abusing restricted substances on the premises or in the near vicinity.

The committee ordered that CCTV should be installed both inside and outside the pub, but they rejected a police proposal that alcohol be prohibited on the tables outside.
