City Council in Aberdeen to take more responsibility for its CCTV system

A Scottish City Council could take on more responsibility for running the city centre CCTV system, a news report in the local media can reveal.
The Aberdeen City Council might be taking charge of manned CCTV in some areas of the city centre under plans to transfer responsibility from the police.
Currently, the Council is responsible for CCTV coverage inside public buildings, while the CCTV system in the city’s streets is the responsibility of Police Scotland. It is believed such a move could see the jobs of a number of staff now employed by Police Scotland move to the city council – although their roles would not change.
