CCTV to save cemetery desecration

A Perth cemetery suffered a theft recently, when an unknown perpetrator stole flowers and decorations from the grave of a baby.

Now the mother, Danielle Townsley Brown (32), has launched a campaign and a petition to get CCTV surveillance installed in the cemetery.

She said: “Last Wednesday when I went up to Lexi’s grave the flowers had been stolen.

“My baby girl’s flowers, the insert pots with pink lids and large silver bows were taken off her resting place. Everything was gone.

“Having to go up and see that everything had been taken away – it’s heartbreaking. It’s not the first time it has happened. Earlier this year one of my friends found her grave trashed when her baby was only laid to rest four weeks before.

 “It’s bad enough when it’s an adult but when it’s a baby it is even more sensitive. So I just thought it is about time to do something about it.

“Wellshill Cemetery needs cameras to protect the resting places within the cemetery, and give families a little peace of mind. The council own it and they’ll be the ones to do something about it.”
