A local council is considering the possibility of installing CCTV cameras in a bid to deter anti-social behaviour by local teenagers in the area, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

Members of the Ponteland Town Council are now looking at ways of preventing the damage of furniture and equipment in Ponteland Park.

Council chairman Coun. Carl Rawlings said the vandalism was not only costly but also very de-motivating for the council’s contractors who were left tidying up the mess and therefore needed to be treated as a high priority.

The possibility of installing CCTV cameras to cover the park, particularly in areas outside the Waitrose store and the bridge crossing the River Pont, will also be looked at as a deterrent.
