CCTV spy car to search for motorists who flout parking regulations around Derby schools

Following the example of their Leeds counterparts, Derby City Council has decided to make use of a spy car fitted with latest-generation surveillance equipment in order to search for motorists who flout the parking laws outside schools.

As a news report in the local media informs us, the move is a part of the Council’s campaign called Respect Your Neighbours and Keep Children Safe and will see the car, that has been fitted with a CCTV camera on the roof, visit 22 schools across Derby.

Council enforcement officers can issue penalty notices if people park on yellow zig-zag lines, on pavements and verges or next to a dropped kerb, the maximum fines going as high as 70 pounds.
