A new CCTV system will be put in place to prevent fly tipping in Bedfont and potentially catch the culprits, a recent news report in the local media has suggested.
Following repeated reports of sacks of unwanted goods and piles of rubbish being dumped outside the Tesco Express store on Staines Road, Hounslow council has joined forces with the supermarket giant to put a stop to the issue.
Although the fly tipping has taken place on private land and therefore is the responsibility of the land owner, in this case Hounslow council is taking a stern approach to the issue and is considering CCTV cameras to catch people red-handed.
Councillor Richard Foote, cabinet member for community protection at Hounslow Council, said: “In this instance Hounslow council’s enforcement team has been working closely with Tesco to tackle the reoccurring issue of fly tipping outside their Bedfont store.
“The council’s enforcement team pro-actively investigated the fly tipping by going through the bags of rubbish to link the waste to any individual, business or property.
“We are looking to install CCTV cameras to help identify anyone fly tipping at this spot in the future.
