New CCTV cameras to be deployed across East Grinstead in crime-cutting bid

Multiple new CCTC surveillance cameras could be installed in East Grinstead as part of an ambitious initiative to drive drown the high levels of crime in the area, a news source suggests.

There are currently 12 CCTV cameras in East Grinstead, which are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week by Sussex Police.

If the scheme is given the go-ahead, the new cameras would be installed when MSDC replaces the existing cameras, which need to be upgraded, throughout the district.

Councillor Norman Webster, cabinet member for health and community at MSDC said: “We’ve worked in partnership with Sussex Police to review where crime and antisocial behaviour has taken place in our towns over the past few years.

“We’ve used this information to suggest the most appropriate, necessary and effective locations for CCTV cameras.

“With our current town centre CCTV cameras coming to the end of their working life and in need of replacement, now is the perfect time to review their location and make sure they are being as effective as they can be.”
