Drivers sticking tape over number plates in order to avoid fines

Parents dropping of their kids at a school at Woodside Primary School, in Grays, are apparently sticking tape over their plate numbers in order to avoid being photographed by a Thurrock Council CCTV car and subsequently fined.
As a news report on this matter reveals, during its first month of operation, the camera-equipped car led to 30 penalty charges being served for illegal parking. The car was launched on the borough’s streets in March in a bid to tackle dangerous parking outside schools and improve safety.
For this reason, some of the parents dropping their kids at the Woodside school have decided to tackle this problem in a rather illegal manner, namely by placing tape over their license plate numbers in order to avoid identification.
A police spokesman said: “We’ve been made aware of this problem and are investigating. Not displaying a valid number plate is an offence. If anyone has any information on these incidents, please let officers at Grays Police Station know.”
